NICE TO MEET YOU.
A long long time ago, in a land before iPads and Facebook, I entered into the field of “Web Design”. I started out like most do, working at 800×600, slicing with Photoshop and writing inline styles in Dreamweaver. Boom!! I had made it, I was a web designer! As my career progressed, I learned how to write code (HTML/CSS). I dabbled with javascript, php and mySQL and I became pretty great at all things WordPress. I really enjoyed what I was doing, but customer after customer, I was forced into signing off on what I knew could be better. My problem was that I didn’t know how to prove it.
Fast forward to 2006, I began working with a woman who called herself a designer, but the majority of her deliverables weren’t hi-defs, they weren’t even “pretty”. She interviewed users, created wireframes and built prototypes. I saw how she was able to validate her recommendations to the customer and senior management and that’s when realized, this is what I want need to be doing.
I had finally found my calling. I’ve fallen in love with UX and I’m happy to say it still gives me butterflies. From personas to prototypes, I have a passion for the entire process, it’s what makes me tick.
